WAEC revokes licences of 574 schools: The West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Nigeria has sanctioned and revoked over 574 schools deemed to have engaged in examination malpractices. The HNO reported that the candidacy for this year grew by 158,627, noting that the National Identification Number (NIN) was made a component of the registration procedure in conformity with the direction of the Federal Government.
Dangut said the results of candidates will be revealed 45 days after the conduct of the last paper, while awarded certificates will be printed and issued to schools in fewer than 90 days following the release of results.The examination authority declared that the schools will not be allowed to conduct examinations even as the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) commences from Thursday, April 24, 2025. The Head of WAEC’s National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut made this known during a press briefing on Thursday at the headquarters of the examination board in Lagos. Dangut said WAEC had given the list of the impacted schools to the federal government.The HNO noted that from this year, two applicants will not have the same questions on each number, noting that the variety is intended towards eliminating reoccurring examination misconduct.
